Steel: a high quality material
Irinox has traditionally used a high quality material: AISI Cr.Ni. 18/10 stainless steel. This metal is renowned for its resistance to corrosion, heat and mechanical stress.
Futhermore, when in contact with moist air or water it does not oxidise, but instead it develops a surface layer, like a shield, that protects it over time.
Stainless steel is easy to clean and therefore hygienic and is entirely recyclable because it can be melted and reused.
Austentic stainless steels are alloys of Iron, Chromium, Carban and Nickel. 18/10 refers to the percentage of Chromium and Nickel content.
Steel can have a variety of surface finishes.
Tampico brushing: the polished than the previous one and is obtained using very fine abrasive brushes. It provides an excellent compromise between shine and durability.
Scotch brite: this finish is slightly less polished than the previous one and is obtained using very fine abrasive brushes. It provides an excellent compromise between shine and durability.
Satin, electro-coloured finish: stainless steel undergoes an electroytic process, whereby the colour is plated onto the steel surface as if it were a precious metal, thus creating reflections of different shades.
Scotch brite, anti-fingerprint finish: the scotch brite finished surface is treated with a special clear paint that protects it from stains and finger prints.
